If you are interested in "border rhetoric," and historical, theoretical, and/or critical methods of research read about this possible panel. The announcement was sent by Bryan Blankfield, Penn State.
"I am looking to put together an RSA panel on visual rhetoric and violence. Both topoi complement RSA 2014’s theme of “border rhetorics.” Visual images invite us to consider the borders between discursive and nondiscursive rhetoric. Violence often erupts at borders—whether cultural, political, or national (to name a few examples). This panel is interested in examining the various intersections between visual rhetoric and violence. For instance, how may visual rhetoric document violence? How might it encourage violence? Are images violent? Papers can take any approach, whether historical, theoretical, or critical.
If interested, please send me a 150 word abstract along with your contact information by June 23. My e-mail address is bbb143@psu.edu."
