Hello all, I am hoping to identify panelists for a discussion session to be submitted to the either the NCA Experiential Learning or Group Communication Division on the role of experiential learning in the group communication course. Specifically I am interested in the strategic use of experiential education in various forms (active learning, service learning, project-based, etc.) as a means of building CONNECTION among group members and between student experience and group theory/knowledge in an academic class. How might we utilize the power of experiential learning to enhance Consciousness Raising and explore Symbolic Convergence, etc. ? What experiential techniques and strategies have you found to enhance your students' appreciation of and learning within the group communication course? In a time when desire for human connection often seems to be dwindling and yet computer mediated group development may be more important than ever, how can we/should we continue to utilize and model! experiential learning in the group context?
