Friends, see below this announcement on a half-time assistantship: The Purdue University Libraries, Archives and Special Collections unit seeks a half-time graduate assistant for one year to support a web archiving initiative to preserve Purdue’s digital publications, online facts and statistics, and related digital documentation of long-term value. Responsibilities: The Graduate Assistant will assist the Digital Preservation and Electronic Records archivist in identifying web content to archive, establishing collections, providing quality assurance for archived content, and monitoring Purdue’s web presence for potential additions. Other digital archiving duties as assigned. Requirements: Interest in working with historically significant digital materials; interest in learning data description and digital preservation tools; strong computer skills; commitment to accuracy and attention to detail in repetitive tasks; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to work independently and collaboratively; ability to work efficiently to meet project goals and deadlines. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in special collections, archives, or libraries; familiarity with digital records and website design; experience with a wide variety of digital file formats; knowledge of Purdue’s organization.
